TV LOGIE AWARDSToday at Australia Zoo Ms Bindi Irwin premiered her new ‘lifestyle’ range of fashion accessories, which will be produced under her own brand name and  marketed exclusively through Myer. Ms Irwin said “the range focuses on the teenager with an eco-friendly bent”.

The range includes colourful edible underwear for both boys and girls, made from processed seaweed and available in a range of flavours. “There are no artificial colours or flavours,” Ms Irwin said. And as the underwear had been enriched with a multivitamin and mineral coating, Ms Irwin said her edible panty could be a nutritious substitute for a missed breakfast in a busy day.

Ms Irwin was especially proud of the feminine hygiene products in her range, which include tampons in different animal shapes, and sanitary pads made from hemp. The novelty aspect of the tampon animal shapes are expected to boost sales. Shapes include an elephant and rhinoceros, and after addressing doubts as to their ease of use, Ms Irwin gave a personal demonstration.  However most observers  felt that Ms Irwin showed considerable discomfort. “And hemp isn’t marijuana so don’t smoke my pads!” joked Ms Irwin.

After out-bidding its rivals, Myer is believed to payed Ms Irwin $5 million for the exclusive arrangement.
