It is to our shame that this situation exists, and persists.

Some assuage their guilt with nonsense like the trickle-down theory and purported benefits of globalization. Insincere fools.

Some see the situation as necessary and sufficient and of no particular concern. They deserve a future of their own making .

I am surprised that the poor and powerless haven’t taken matters into their own hands. Maybe it’s just a matter of time. The rich and powerful are advised to look over their shoulders, for their privileged positions are in fact tenuous.

Rows of the executed privileged does not perturb me — It is no more than they deserve; when so many in the world suffer and die for want of simple issues of prevention, like adequate food, water, shelter, or health-care, or live and die under torture and repression, or live in an environment degraded and made toxic, why should there not be such a consequence?

Ultimately though I know failure is the so many who would be them: it is wilful individualism, unfettered selfishness, and disconnection from humanity that motivates them. And no acknowledgement ever of any consequences.

In this age of relative obscenities, absolutes or categoricals are frowned upon. Those that make such statements are at best considered naive, at worst deluded. We are encouraged to be equivocal, that way we are less of a threat to the privileged. But some things are right, some things are wrong — most people intuit that this is the case.

Rather than deferring to the rich and powerful, I see them as base and ignorant and to have determined their own fate. When there is so much more to life, so much of interest and so much to learn and  achieve, they and wealth and power are as the donkey and carrot.
