QUEENSLAND’S RICHEST MAN CALLS FOR CLOSER TIES WITH CHINA

Posted in Uncategorized by thecuriousmail on October 4, 2009

clive palmerMr Clive Palmer, a mining billionaire and Queensland’s richest man,

has accused Australia of racism in its attitude to China, and has called for

closer ties between Australia and China.

Mr Palmer is a large financial donor to conservative political parties, and has

extensive business arrangements with China.

Widely regarded as dim and a buffoon, albeit rich, Mr Palmer nevertheless

staggered observers by suggesting that Australia and China join together

in a political federation, with mainland China to be known as East China,

and Australia as West China. “Money always trumps ideology,” he said.

“Call me a Commie if you like, as long as I’m making money!”

It is believed that Mr Palmer is to be presented the ‘Friend of China’  medal by Chinese officials at the next state

executions of human rights and democracy activists.

Mr Palmer is known for his contempt of dissidents in China, sorry East China, and has said his approach to

dissidents in West China “will be no less harsh”.

When asked for details, Mr Palmer said: “Finger lickin’ good ha ha ha”.

well, after his statements about the foreign investment review board being racist in denying chinese investment in some sectors, i have not seen even the most rabid conservative come to his support, or concur with his views, either in queensland or federal politics, or in the media. Do they concur with his views, but choose not to support him publicly? Or is he just as I say? I have neither heard nor seen anything to change my opinion of him.

    Hi there,
we are editor of The Lamp magazine, for NSW Nurses’ Association. For July Lamp, we need a picture of Clive Palmer. And I am wondering if I can use the one you have on your blog on our publication? Thanks for your assistance.
